Summit Conferences and Powder Mountain

ONE OF THE FIRST FEMALE PARTNERS

A community of the world’s leading young entrepreneurs, company founders, organizers, activists, artists and athletes, Summit hosts annual conferences and retreat programming around the world.

For more than six years, Audrey acted as the Director of Programming, spearheading and shaping the signature style of content that Summit produces for their community -- how people gather in a room, what they talk about, and which experts guide the conversations. At the outset of this venture Audrey was only 23 years old, and along with Natalie Spilger, she was one of two female partners at the company.

Co-founded by Elliott Bisnow, Jeff Rosenthal, Jeremy Schwartz, Brett Leve, and Ryan Begelman, Summit manifests radical events that uplift and bring together its growing community. Conference participants will tell you that Audrey continues to hold space for transformation in terms of the intellectual quality and integrity of programming, and diversity and inclusivity of the community.

SHAPING MODELS FOR LEARNING

At Summit conferences, Audrey's team put the people on stage that reflected the real world. People that reflect the most pressing matters of our time -- not just those with perceived power, wealth and influence. The people and topics that force us to examine our own privilege and hope that our audience will do the same.

After years carrying out research and development with colleagues like Thayer Walker, Josh Zabar, David Denberg, Adam Dexter,  Babs Burchfield, Megan Boswell, Achille Tako, Mihai Mosor, Perry DeCoveny, Kenji Summers, and Ron Harel, Audrey lead the development of a style of creating spaces where the speaker and the attendees sit eye-level with one another, and where possible, conversations are held in the round, as opposed to lectures.

There’s something incredibly dynamic about having people speak with you, instead of at you. At Summit events, the attendees are just as intelligent, kind and qualified as the speakers. This makes it really valuable and important to take the typical walls down that are created between audience and presenter.

Today Shira Abramowitz, Cari Levison and Cat Levin carry this legacy forward at Summit.

SHIFTING ACCESS AND POWER

In the world of global conferences, Audrey will perhaps be best-known for her commitment to shifting the power and access paradigm at Summit -- on stages, in staff and in the community.

In partnership with founding contributors like James Andrews, Anthony Demby, Karla Ballard, Stephen DeBerry and Dhani Jones, Audrey drove a sea change in the typically white-male dominated business conference industry. This work ensured that gender, cultural and ideologically-diverse audiences not only had a seat at the table, but were resetting the table for new generations.

In 2015, Audrey joined forces with Mike de la Rocha and dream hampton to premiere a justice-focused track of programming that put the nation's most pressing (and overlooked) topics at the center of Summit at Sea. This included an opening plenary address by Harry Belafonte, Bryan Stevenson and John Legend.

In 2016, her team had the honor of beginning the Summit at Sea program with the wisdom of the founding women who have shaped society for decades: Sonia Sanchez, Dolores Huerta and LaDonna Harris. This was also the year that we premiered nine tracks of programming that took attendees on deeper journeys -- from global culture and economics to the origins of social movements and spirituality.

SUMMIT POWDER MOUNTAIN

Summit is building a mountain town around the spirit of innovation in the heart of Utah's Wasatch Mountains. Summit Powder Mountain aims to rethink the great American mountain town around a community focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, arts, and altruism. Tucked on the southern side of Powder Mountain, in the town of Eden, Utah, it’s a new kind of neighborhood, where friends, family, and the change makers of today and tomorrow gather in an environment created to catalyze personal and collective growth. Here’s more from The New York Times.

As Director of Programming for Summit Powder Mountain, Audrey visioned the model for salon discussions and lectures that exists today in mountaintop yurts and lakeside speakeasys.

Through the years at Summit Powder Mountain, Audrey refined and developed her interview style, pulling the stories from the hearts and minds of people that the world looks up to, and, even better, the ones that they will look up to 10 years from now.
